Choosing the Right Selkirk Paddle for Your Game

For Power Players

The Selkirk Vanguard Power Air is built for players who want to generate pace from the baseline and hit through opponents on fast exchanges. It uses a QuadFlex 4 Layer carbon fiber face that stays stiff on impact, transferring more force into every drive and overhead.

The polypropylene core absorbs vibration to keep the paddle comfortable during long sessions, while the carbon fiber face handles the speed and adds pop on aggressive shots. Selkirk Sport's approach to layering materials, from raw carbon surfaces to proprietary polymer cores, is what defines the Selkirk carbon fiber legacy across the entire lineup. Among all Selkirk paddles built for offense, the Vanguard is where to start.

For Control Players

The LUXX Control Air Invikta is one of the top control paddle options in pickleball. It runs a 20mm thick core paired with a Florek carbon fiber face, and the combination slows the ball down on contact and gives you more control over placement during dink rallies and resets. The LUXX also offers a larger sweet spot than the Vanguard Control paddle, which means off center hits still travel where you intend them to go.

A control paddle does require more force on power shots because the core absorbs energy rather than returning it, but that tradeoff is what net players want. The Invikta shape adds extra handle length for two handed backhands, giving you more reach on returns. Selkirk maintains strong spin performance through textured surfaces on higher end paddles like the LUXX, so you don't sacrifice spin to gain feel. Between the LUXX and Vanguard lines, Selkirk paddles cover both ends of the spectrum.

SLK Paddles for Beginners and Intermediate Players

The SLK by Selkirk line gives newer players a way to start playing with real performance at an accessible price. SLK pickleball paddles run Gen 3 construction with fiberglass or carbon fiber faces, delivering spin and grip control at a weight that works right out of the box. The Epic shape is a traditional wide body built for beginners who want a larger sweet spot and a forgiving feel from day one, while the SLK Era Elongated adds reach for intermediate players ready to develop more force in their game.

SLK paddles compete well in their price segment of the market. The lineup includes the Evo and Halo series, and both deliver the core Selkirk experience at a lower price point than the AMPED, Vanguard, or LUXX models. The Epic and other SLK shapes are strong options in the entry level market, and they give players a legitimate upgrade path as skills develop.

Selkirk also runs a Selkirk Bonus Bucks loyalty program that rewards repeat purchases, and their customer service is known for being fast. For players ready to purchase their first pickleball paddle or upgrade from a starter set, SLK pickleball paddles are where most Selkirk players begin.

Selkirk Shoes and Court Accessories

Selkirk Pickleball Shoes

Selkirk shoes aren't an afterthought. The CourtStrike series was designed from the ground up for pickleball footwork, and Get2Eleven carries both the White Pine and Lunar Black colorways. Each model features a court grade outsole built for lateral movement, quick stops, and the constant direction changes that this sport demands.

The midsole absorbs impact without losing responsiveness, so you get stability on split steps and cushioning during longer rallies. If you've been playing in running shoes or cross trainers, switching to a dedicated court shoe makes a noticeable difference in how you move on the court. Both Selkirk pickleball shoes handle indoor and outdoor surfaces.

Bags, Backpacks, and Gear

The Selkirk Core Line Tour Backpack and Team Backpack carry everything you bring to the court. Both bags include padded paddle compartments, ventilated shoe storage, and room for water bottles, towels, and a change of clothes. The LABS Project Prestige Pack takes it further with a layout designed for tournament travel.

For lighter days, the Core Line Sling Bag fits a paddle, balls, and a few essentials without the bulk of a full Selkirk backpack. The accessories lineup also covers the premium paddle case, replacement overgrips for a fresh grip feel, and edge guard tape to extend the life of your paddle frame. Selkirk Frequently Asked Questions

Is Selkirk or JOOLA Better?
It depends on your playstyle. Selkirk paddles are built around feel, carbon fiber face technology, and extended dwell time, which gives control players an advantage in the soft game. JOOLA paddles tend to emphasize speed, spin, and quick hands at the net, with models designed alongside top professional players. Neither brand is universally better. The right choice comes down to how you play and what you want from your paddle. Testing both at Get2Eleven's Encinitas pro shop is the fastest way to decide.

Is Selkirk a Good Pickleball Paddle Brand?
Yes. Selkirk paddles have built a strong reputation on carbon fiber construction, proprietary core materials, and a lineup that covers everything from beginner models to pro level performance. Selkirk Sport paddles are USAPA approved for tournament play, backed by a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and used by competitive players across the country. The company also designs many of its paddles in the USA, which gives them tighter quality control over materials and construction.

What Is the Lifespan of a Selkirk Paddle?
Most Selkirk paddles last 1 to 2 years with regular play. The carbon fiber face holds up well, but the core and surface texture will gradually wear down with frequent use. Competitive players who play multiple times per week may notice changes sooner. Selkirk Sport offers a limited lifetime warranty that covers manufacturing defects but not normal wear and tear. Using a paddle cover and cleaning the face regularly can extend your paddle's lifespan.

What Is the #1 Rated Pickleball Paddle?
There's no single answer because the top rated pickleball paddle depends on your playing style and priorities on the court. Within the Selkirk lineup, the LUXX Control Air is consistently rated among the best for control and soft game performance, while the Vanguard Power Air earns top marks from players who need pace on drives and serves. Both use advanced carbon fiber faces and proprietary core technology. The best paddle is the one that matches how you actually play.
